    Foo Fighters Biography

Dave Grohl, the drummer for the iconic band Nirvana, began working on his own music. By 1994, Grohl entered the studio with producer Barrett Jones and started to record a few songs. With his own style and flair, Grohl signed a new deal with Capitol records and formed a band after recruiting bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith and guitarist Pat Smear. Together, these members created the Foo Fighters, named after WWII unidentified fireballs seen by American pilots. The songs recorded by Grohl and Barrett became the first songs of the Foo Fighters first album.

"Foo Fighters" was released in 1995. Hit songs, "This Is a Call" and "I'll Stick Around" can be found on this album as well as at the top of the charts for the time. In the next album recording, Goldsmith, the drummer, quit and Taylor Hawkins took his place. "The Colour and the Shape" dropped its introduction with big hits on the song list like "Monkey Wrench" and "My Hero." Following, a few more members came and went but the Foo Fighters became complete with Chris Shiflett. The finalized group recorded and released "There is Nothing Left to Lose" in 1999.

As the Foo Fighters recorded another album, the group took a break but then regrouped in the basement of Grohl's home. Together again, the band finished "One By One" and the band's popularity grew as nostalgia as well as an original sound of alternative rock. In the 2004 election of John Kerry, the Foos stood behind his campaign and later titled their next album "In Your Honor." The album gained popularity as a double-feature of acoustic and heavier metal music. By their ninth album, "Concrete and Gold" they had reached #1 for the second time.

With Grammys, over 12 million copies sold in the U.S. alone and many more awards and accolades, the Foo Fighters are certain to put on a memorable show for all. Don't miss the next Foo Fighters concert near you!
