Oakland Athletics Events

The Oakland Athletics (commonly referred to as the A's) are an American professional baseball team based in Oakland, California. The Athletics compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division. Founded in 1901, they have won nine World Series championships over their history, three while based in Philadelphia and six after moving to Oakland in 1968.

The franchise has had success both on and off the field throughout its history; notably, it is one of only two teams that has never lost 100 games during a season since 1901 (the other being the Chicago Cubs). The A's have made 16 consecutive playoff appearances from 20002015 which was an MLB record until surpassed by the Atlanta Braves with 17 consecutive appearances from 1991-2005. They also hold four wild card berths: 2001, 2003, 2012 and 2013. There most recent playoff appearance came in 2020 off of a West divisional title.

In addition to winning multiple championships and making regular postseason appearances, some of the most notable individual players who have played for or managed the team include Hall-of-Famers Ty Cobb, Rickey Henderson, Rollie Fingers and Reggie Jackson among others. Also several current stars such as Mark McGuire and Jose Canseco began their careers with them before going on to be successful elsewhere.
