The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Orioles compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. As one of the American League's eight charter teams in 1901, this particular franchise spent its first year as a major league club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Milwaukee Brewers before moving to St. Louis, Missouri, to become the St. Louis Browns from 1902 thru 1953. After 52 years in St. Louis, the franchise was relocated to Baltimore for the 1954 season and has been there ever since then with only two non-consecutive seasons (1972–1974) playing at Memorial Stadium in suburban Bloomington while Camden Yards was under construction.
The Orioles have won nine Division championships; six pennants; three wild card berths; three Wild Card Game wins; and two World Series Championships: 1966 vs Los Angeles Dodgers and 1970 vs Cincinnati Reds respectively. They also played their first game against another AL team on April 24th 1954 losing 11–5 against Detroit Tigers at Briggs Stadium which is now known as Comerica Park following its move from Detroit back when it was called Tiger Stadium where they had played since 1912 till 1999 season when it closed down for good after 87 years of service making them one of oldest MLB teams still playing today alongside Chicago Cubs who were founded two years earlier than them back in 1876.
