The Minnesota Twins have a long and successful history in Major League Baseball. The franchise began as the Washington Senators in 1901, relocating to Minneapolis-St. Paul in 1961 and becoming the Twins. In their first decade of existence, the Twins won two American League pennants (1965, 1969) and one World Series Championship (1965).

The 1990s were also a period of great success for Minnesota as they made it back to four more postseasons from 1995-2001 winning three division titles along the way (1991 AL West; 2002 AL Central; 2006 AL Central). During this stretch of eight straight playoff appearances from 2002-2009, they won six division championships including five consecutive from 2002-2006 making them one of only four teams ever to accomplish that feat. They then went on to win two more ALCS Championships in 2009 & 2010 before falling short against San Francisco Giants in Game 6 of 2011 World Series. In 2020 they were names American League Central champions.
