Seattle Seahawks Events

The Seattle Seahawks joined the NFL in 1976 as the 28th franchise in the league, all as part of league expansion. The Seahawks joined the same year as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team was created to give the citizens of the Pacific Northwest a team to call their own within the NFL, and the franchise has become one of the most popular in the league. Their jersey combinations and loud fanbase make them a destination for all NFL fans.

IN 1996, owners transferred the team operations to Anaheim, California even though the team continued to play in Seattle. Owners were threatened with a $500k a day fine if they didn’t move operations back to Seattle. The team was sold to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 1997 for over $200 million.

The Seahawks have won eleven division championships since their inception in 1976, with most of their success coming after the NFL merger in 2002 and have totaled 20 playoff appearances. The team has also won three conference championships and has a record of 1-2 in their three Super Bowl appearances. The team lost 21-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL as well as to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX, 28-24. The team won their only title in Super Bowl XLVIII when they defeated the Denver Broncos, 43-8.

Longtime coach Pete Carroll lead the Seahawks from 2010 up until 2023 winning his only Super Bowl in 2013. Mike Holmgren coached the Seahawks before Carroll stepped in.

Some notable players include Matt Hasselbeck, Russell Wilson, Walter Jones, Steve Largent and Kenny Easley.

The Seahawks first played their home game in Seattle's Kingdome and now play at Lumen Field formerly known as CenturyLink Field. Lumen Field is home to the famous "12th Man," which is the nickname given to the Seattle Seahawks fans.
