One of the oldest franchises in the NFL, the Chicago Bears were founded in 1920 as the Decatur Staleys. The team moved to Chicago the following year and in 1922 were renamed to the Chicago Bears. The Bears shared Wrigley Field with the Chicago Cubs until 1971 before moving to their current home, historic Soldier Field.

As well as being one of the most iconic franchises in the NFL, the Bears have also been one of the most successful. With nine NFL championships dating back to 1920, the Chicago Bears trail only the Green Bay Packers for the most in NFL history. Their lone Super Bowl win came in the 1985-1986 season as the ‘Monsters of the Midway’ posted a league best 15-1 regular season mark before marching through the playoffs and dominating the New England Patriots, 46-10, to capture Super Bowl XX.

After moving on from number two overall draft pick Mitch Trubisky, the Bears drafted Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, who they believe is their quarterback of the future. With young talent on both sides of the ball, the Bears should be a real threat in the NFC North for years to come.

Chicago has appeared in the playoffs 26 times in their history and have captured 21 division championships, including four (2005, 2006, 2010, 2018) in their current division, the NFC North. Going hand in hand with the Bears’ success have been plenty of legendary players and coaches along the way. Chicago has sent 28 members into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the most of any team.

Among those Hall of Fame members include some of the most celebrated names in football. George Halas founded the Bears and served as their head coach for 40 seasons before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1963. Alongside Halas in the Hall of Fame include some of the best players to ever play in the NFL including Bronko Nagurski, Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers and Walter Payton. With legendary players have also come some legendary coaches. Halas isn’t the only coach to leave his mark on the city of Chicago. Mike Ditka spent some of his playing days with the Bears before becoming head coach in 1982 and leading Chicago to their lone Super Bowl title.
