The Jacksonville Jaguars joined the National Football League as an expansion franchise for the 1995 season. Since joining the NFL in 1995, the Jaguars have made the playoffs seven times. The Jaguars have also won three division titles, including a pair of AFC Central crowns in 1998 and 1999 and their first AFC South title in 2017.
The Jaguars found success early, making the playoffs in four of their first five seasons of play in the NFL. The team finished 9-7 in 1996 to sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card team and then finished 11-5 in 1997, earning another Wild Card bid. The team won their first division title after going 11-5 in 1998 and finished 14-2 in 1999 en route to their second straight division crown. The Jaguars made their first AFC Championship game appearance in 1996 and again in 1999, but the franchise is still awaiting their first Super Bowl appearance. The Jaguars struggled in the 2000s, but returned to prominence in 2017 when the team won the AFC South division title behind Jalen Ramsey and a stout defense. Their 2017 playoff berth was their first since 2007.
