Founded in 1961, the Washington Wizards were originally named the Chicago Packers and were obviously based in Chicago, Illinois. After their first season, they were renamed the Chicago Zephyrs. In 1963, the team moved to Baltimore, and they were renamed the Baltimore Bullets. In 1973, the team moved again to Washington, D.C., and they were renamed the Capital Bullets.
