Garth Brooks Biography

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and an Oklahoma State student, Garth Brooks is a true midwestern. Brooks tried to gain success early on but did not succeed until his second trip to Nashville. He never gave up and it was manager Bob Doyle who noticed the singer and took him under his wing. Garth released "If Tomorrow Never Comes" and "The Dance" under Bob Doyle and Capitol Records and took off.

A big hit on stage, Garth was known for his country songs and great performances. By 2000, he took home three American Music Awards (AMA's) for "Artist of the Decade," "Favorite Male Country Artist" and "Favorite Country Album."

Garth Brooks took a break from music to focus on his family and personal life. For about a decade, he didn't record or release any studio albums. However, by 2009, he came back into the music scene and announced a concert in Nashvhille, benefitting all those affected by the May 2010 flood.

Because of his success and talents, Brooks joined the greats of music in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011 and became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002.
