Company History

Our company's story begins in 2004 with the purchase of a set of Kansas Jayhawks basketball tickets. As a Jayhawks fan, Dan Rouen, our company's founder, bought these tickets hoping to see another great game at Allen Fieldhouse. When Dan found himself unable to attend the game, he took to eBay to recoup the cost of the KU tickets. To his surprise, he made a profit from the resale of his tickets. This led Dan to set aside $1,000 for the purchase of tickets to resell. As he began to understand the market, Dan's Tickets For Less eBay business quickly built a loyal customer base. His rapid success, particularly in the Kansas City area, gave him the confidence to have a basic website designed at ticketsforless.net. This allowed customers to order tickets through him directly. His customers grew to recognize and appreciate his integrity, leading the company's strong customer base to have consistent growth from increased word-of-mouth. Although the company started as a side business, as Dan began to work nights and weekends selling tickets, he quickly found that he needed to make a choice between his full-time job and Tickets For Less. In 2005, Dan left his full-time job so he could devote all of his attention to building Tickets For Less.

In 2006, Dan opened Tickets For Less in a small space inside a local grocery store in the Kansas City area. As integrity and risk-free ticket purchases were the company's cornerstone, Dan felt that a retail space was important to help instill the sort of confidence he hoped for in his customers. Within two months, the business had taken off so quickly that he needed to hire his first full-time employee. The company's growth continued rapidly and by 2007 Tickets For Less had outgrown the small space inside the grocery store. To accommodate the company's growth, Dan signed a lease for an office suite inside of a local bank. In addition to this, he hired three more employees. Dan knew that Tickets For Less had reached a point at which the company could greatly benefit from efforts to get the word out about the trust-driven business. This resulted in our company's first advertisements on Sports Radio 810 WHB in Kansas City. This investment helped spread the word about Tickets For Less throughout the Kansas City area.

Tickets For Less has grown each year since it was founded. In 2013, Tickets For Less leased additional space to accommodate company growth. This allowed Tickets For Less to add additional staff and expand the customer lobby. In 2014, Tickets For Less signed a contract with Fox Sports Midwest for a live in-game mention during all Kansas City Royals games. There are now over 30 employees at Tickets For Less and all are committed to providing the sort of service that our customers have come to rely on. In January 2015, Bill Fromm and Jeff Fromm invested in the business. Their track record in scaling fast growing companies had an immediate impact. Tickets For Less is proud to say that we are a homegrown, Kansas City based industry leader, with local roots and a national presence through our strategic partnerships with teams and venues.
