The franchise was established in March of 1995, and they began play in 1998. The team competes in Major League Baseball (MLB) as part of the National League West Division. The Diamondbacks have won one World Series championship (2001), becoming the fastest expansion franchise to do so; and six division titles (1999, 2001–2002, 2007–2011). The Diamondbacks most recent trip to the World Series was in 2023 where they lost to the Texas Rangers in a 5-game series.
