The Arizona Diamondbacks are a professional baseball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in 1998, the team competes in Major League Baseball (MLB) as part of the National League West Division. The Diamondbacks have won one World Series championship (2001), becoming the fastest expansion franchise to do so; and six division titles (1999, 2001–2002, 2007–2011). They also hold an interleague rivalry with their fellow state rival Colorado Rockies. The Diamondbacks' home ballpark is Chase Field, formerly known as Bank One Ballpark.
The Arizona Diamondbacks organization has made several significant changes over recent years to improve their team. In December 2019, the Diamondbacks hired Hall of Famer Tony La Russa as their manager and brought in former Atlanta Braves general manager Dave Stewart as a special assistant to the president/CEO. The organization also made several key trades during the 2020 season that helped bring in a number of new players including starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner, outfielder Starling Marte, catcher Stephen Vogt, and infielder Eduardo Escobar. With these new additions to an already talented roster, the Diamondbacks are poised for success in 2021 and beyond.
