Green Bay Packers Events

Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, The Green Bay Packers are one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the NFL. The Packers have stayed in Green Bay ever since that first season and have played in their original city longer than any other team in the NFL. The Packers are the only non-profit and community-owned team in all professional sports in the United States.

A franchise that celebrated their 100th anniversary in the 2019-20 season, the Green Bay Packers hold the record for the most wins in NFL history. Green Bay holds 13 championships with nine of those coming prior to the NFL-AFL merger and four Super Bowl titles (I, II, XXXI, XLV). The Packers have totaled 36 playoff appearances before the 2024 season and have won 26 division championships.

Vince Lombardi, who the Super Bowl trophy is named after, was the coach of The Packers from 1959-1967 when they won the first two Super Bowls. Lombardi started his coaching career as a high school coach, working his way up to college and eventually for three different NFL teams.

The Packers fanbase is known as the “cheeseheads” which reflects the state of Wisconsin’s large cheese production. You can often find fans wearing a cheesehead hat at games.

Where do the Green Bay Packers play?

The Packers spent their earliest seasons playing home games at Bellevue Park and Hagemeister Park in Green Bay. In 1925, the Packers moved into City Stadium and would remain there till 1956 until a new City Stadium was built in 1957 and later renamed Lambeau Field, after Curly Lambeau. Lambeau remains the oldest continually operating stadium in the NFL and is one of the loudest places to play in the NFL.
