The Miami Marlins joined professional baseball as an expansion franchise in 1993, entering the league as the Florida Marlins. The team officially changed their name from the Florida Marlins to the Miami Marlins in November of 2011. The Miami Marlins have won two World Series titles despite never having won a division crown. The Marlins have made the playoffs just three times in their history, in 1997, 2003, and 2020. In all three instances, the Marlins made the playoffs as a Wild Card team. The Marlins have won two World Series championships (1997 and 2003).
