The Indianapolis Colts came about in 1953 as the Baltimore Colts, playing in the National Football League. The team moved to Indianapolis from Baltimore in 1984 and had over 140,000 requests for season tickets in the first few weeks in Indianapolis. They were one of three teams in the NFL to join and form the AFC, following the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
The Colts have also appeared in the Super Bowl four times, twice in Baltimore and twice in Indianapolis.
