The New Orleans Saints are based in New Orleans, Louisiana and play inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The headquarters and training camp take place in Metairie, Louisiana. The Saints compete in the NFC South division, along with the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The team was founded in 1966 by John W. Mecom Jr. and David Dixon, becoming the first professional football team in Louisiana. They played their games at Tulane Stadium from 1967 until the 1974 season when they moved into the New Orleans Superdome. The Superdome was updated and renamed Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the team still plays there today.

The Saints wear black, gold, and white and show their fleur-de-lis on their helmets. Because Louisiana, especially New Orleans, has a large population of Catholicism, the team received their name relating to “All Saints Day” which happens to be on November 1st, which is the same day the Saints were founded. The team also resembles the song, “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

The Saints fan base have a chant and cheer that goes, “"Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?" and New Orleans Saints fans are often referred to as, "Who Dat Nation."

Though the Saints have only reached the Super Bowl once (and won it) the Saints continue to bring in a great fan base and aim to work toward another Super Bowl. The Saints beat the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV in 2010 for their first ever Super Bowl. Most recently, the Saints came close to earning a trip to the Super Bowl in 2019 though falling just one game short after losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship. In all, the team has reached the NFC Conference Championship game three times, holding an overall record of 1-2.

Quarterback Drew Brees is arguably the most recognizable players in New Orleans Saints franchise history. Brees was with the Saints since 2006 and is the all-time leader in multiple statistical categories in Saints history, including yards, touchdowns and victories. After retiring in 2020, Brees will be handing over the quarterbacking duties to Jameis Winston. With great pieces still around him such as Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara, Winston has a chance to have a great first season as a starter under head coach Sean Payton.
