Pink Biography

P!nk's real name is Alecia Beth Moore. She turned to a stage name became P!nk based from the movie Reservoir Dogs's character, Mr. Pink. Known as a rebel child, Pink took to music and dancing. She found herself in clubs at the young age of 13 and 14. A highschool dropout, Pink continued to song and dance at clubs until she was invited to audtion for an R&B group. The group failed but Alecia found opportunity. She got her G.E.D in 1998 and then changed her name to Pink. Venturing out to be a solo artist, she released Can't Take Me Home in 2000. The album went double-platinum and made three Top 10 hits with "Most Girls," "You Make Me Sick," and "There You Go." Her success lead her to jump on tour as the opener for 'N Sync. However, Pink wanted more. She wanted to show her true emotions and release music with a little more spunk.

Her major success didn't come until her recognition in "Lady Marmalade." The hit single released from Moulin Rouge! had big names like Lil' Kim, Myz, Christina Aguilera and P!nk. From that moment on, P!nk disrupted the industry and released edgy pop songs. Compared to other female artists, she was stepping up the game. With the release of "Get the Party Started," music fans loved it and critics pushed to to the Top 5. Next, she released M!ssundaztood that went on to sell 10 million copies. With sounds of rock, pop and more, P!nk made her own sound and gained all the recognition for it.

Her first Grammy was for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Yet it still wasn't enough. A third album, Try This was released followed by I'm Not Dead. Her biggest hit from the later album, "Stupid Girls" gained extreme publicity as it was Pink's way of stepping out of the stereotype of the typical famous female. She didn't want to be the typical ditsy sexy girl yet wanted to be bold and show her spunk and rock. Two more albums came about, with major success from The Truth About Love. By 2013, Pink toured the nation making over $140 million in ticket sales.

In 2017, her release of Beautiful Tramua reached Billboard 200, with "What About Us" claiming top success. Pink has stayed relevant in the music industry with hit songs and even a hit on the country charts in ollaboration with Kenny Chesney, "Setting the World on Fire." She also sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl LII.
