The Cleveland Cavaliers, oftentimes referred to as the Cavs, are located in Cleveland, Ohio and play at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in downtown Cleveland. The Cavs were founded in 1970 and were added to the NBA as an expansion team along with the Portland Trailblazers and the Buffalo Braves.

The Cleveland Cavaliers first taste of success came in the 1976 season when they won their division for the first time. It would not be until 2009 with LeBron James leading the way that they would win another division title, and it took until 2007 to win a conference title.

In their first NBA Finals appearance in 2007, LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers faced Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs. The series was not competitive, as the Spurs would beat the Cavs in just four games to win the NBA Finals. At the conclusion of the series, point guard Tony Parker was named Finals MVP.

After failing to make the playoffs in the following three seasons, LeBron famously announced that he would be “taking his talents to South Beach” and proceeded to play for the Heat until 2014, winning two championships. In 2014, LeBron returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the 2015-16 season, LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers returned to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2007, and they would face the loaded Golden State Warriors led by Stephen Curry. After seven games, LeBron and the Cavs pulled out the series, bringing the city of Cleveland their first NBA championship. In the following two seasons, the Cavs would return to the Finals to face the Warriors, but the Warriors beat them both times.

In total, the Cleveland Cavaliers have one NBA Championship, five conference titles, and seven divisional titles.

Currently, the Cavaliers are rebuilding their roster and trying to acquire as much young talent and draft capital as possible. Some of the young talents include Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, and Jaret Allen. With so many talented young players, the Cavaliers seem poised to return to being competitive soon.
